WIP sculpt .

Just started this little bust sculpt, and for once I'm not doing anything from my mind but instead taking inspiration from someone elses' art! It feels great and it's very fun to be inspired by something and try to translate that painting to 3D while still keeping my own style to it.
Atm she's just a WIP though.

Freja finished model !

I finished my Freja-model last friday, had been working on her quite a while actually but since I haven't had the time to fully commit to her it took longer than I would have wanted. But now she's finished, and I am quite happy with the result.
I had so much trouble with painting the fur-texture, I was supposed to use the AO and cavity map from the high-poly model to paint the texture for the low-poly, but the fur on the high-poly model somehow didn't translate well AT ALL to the AO or any other map for that matter. I didn't want her to have realistic fur since I was going for a stylized style so the fur on the high-poly was more chunky to resemble chunks of fur. On the maps it just looked like weirdness though, so I ended up just painting the fur without the maps. Glad I did that, because it turned out much better!

Female body sculpt WIP .

Now that I really have a lot of free time on my hands I decided I really have to DO stuff. Can't just wake up at twelve every day and do nothing and then get sad because I haven't done anything all day.. I decided this last friday but things went so-so! Just had no strength at all to do anything, which sucked. I swear I could have been lying on the couch all weekend if I didn't have to go up and eat.

Anyway, yesterday I finally got around to do SOMETHING, wee. I've never really done a sculpt of a body when I thought of it, so I decided to try one. Well I've done one once, think it was for the summer course two summers ago, but I had no idea what I was doing then and I sculpted it in Mudbox and nooo, it didn't turn out well and I don't like it.

With this sculpt I at least want to try my hand at doing something realistic for once... even though the style that I'm going to use this sculpt for isn't realistic (damn). I guess I might be able to tone down the realism when I'm done with it. We'll see, haha.

Lunch break painting #2 !

Today I was really looking forward to lunch break cause then I could paint some more! Haha not that I'm NOT painting when I work but it's not the same, it's more fun to do my own stuff and come up with imaginary faces rather than paint existing ones. Anyway, I call this dude Danyel, cause it's more cool with a Y in Danyel instead of an I. Or something. He is, just like Monja, based on an old drawing I've done.
I am more happy over how he turned out compared to the painting I did yesterday, he has got a more realistic look to him (although his head isn't really anatomically correct at all...) and I'm a bit proud of myself that I managed to do that without any references at all. I think it's good training cause then you have to try and remember things instead of looking at other images. Not saying that references are bad, I believe they are very good and essential, but I feel like I get so locked down if/when I look up references, it's like I can't think on my own if I do and it ends up with me just copying the references :c.

Lunch break painting !

It was raining a lot during my lunch break today so I decided I'd paint something instead of sitting outside to eat. I've got some collections of heads/portraits on my dA that I've made some years ago (I think) so I decided I'd pick one of them and paint it. It took about an hour (little less) cause that's all I've got for break but I think she turned out pretty okay!

What I would like to change is probably her eyes, they are too cartoony I think, even though her face itself isn't realistic at all - the eyes just don't fit. Maybe it's cause of the very large iris...? Also, I'm not superhappy about the colorscheme overall, it didn't turn out the way I'd imagined it from the beginning... the skin feels a bit flat and dull.

These are things I have to keep in mind when I do my next painting!

A bit of a SLIGHTLY Zelda-inspired girl...

My intentions was really to dedicate this weekend to modeling and/or sculpting BUT. Apparently I didn't quite feel like it yesterday, at all, so I did some drawinks instead. Wanted to try and do something that had a bit of a Zelda WW/SS feeling to it. Not sure I really nailed it though, but I like the plain idea of the concept anyway, so I guess I'll work on it like this.

Autumn .

When you're supposed to study and write your paper, it's a lot more fun to do anything other than just that. I drew this woman a couple of days ago, and right now I'm doodeling in my write block, bah.

Also, I couldn't help but to buy myself a navy rain coat as an early birthday gift.

Yay new project: Freja !

Since I finished my smithy yesterday I could finally start on my next project! My lady Freja! I've had her in mind for a looong time and I just noticed I already started on her head some months ago. Although that head was not very good and way too childish looking and did not fit the style I had imagined for her. So I took the remains of that head and hit it a lot and now it looks better and more like what I had imagined. I just threw some temporary paint on her face to see what it would look like.

Of course she will be getting a body later aswell, though it's funnier to start with the head.

Oops and I've obviously forgot to post my smithy here, too, so here it is.
